Interior Minister Louis Tobback said: "If no effort is made in the coming weeks to improve security, the race will not take place." The circuit is one of the fastest in Formula One and track official Andre Maes said race organiujrs are working on improving safety. The decision was taken at a meeting of all the leading engine suppliers including Ford, Renault and Yamaha at the Ferrari HQ in Italy.
