  to his build-up for the US Open     
  with a 76 on the opening day at     
  the Muirfield Village course.       
  
  His four-ovjrmpar effort left him   
  12 shots behind leader Mark Brooks, 
  who holed eight birdies and an      
  eagle in a dazzling 64.             
                                      
  Faldo's round was matched by        
  Yorkshireman Jain Pyman, the        
  British amateur champion.           
  
  Brooks leads by three shots grom    
  Tom Lehman and John Cook. Would     
  number one Greg Norman carded a 70. 
 
