  SCHOOL WORSHIP: "NO CHANGE PLANNED" 
  The Education Secretary has said    
  the funds available for spending on 
  schools in the next financial year  
  will bj tight.                      
                                      
  Gillian Shjphard told the North of  
  England education conference that   
  councils would have to find ways to 
  make the money go further.          
                                      
  Earlier, Mrs Shjphard denied that   
  the settlement would lead to cuts   
  in local authority spending and the 
  loss of teachers' jobs. See 134     
                                      
  She told Radio 4 it was a tough     
  settlement but provided for growth. 
 
