  MALAWI: EX-MEADER ON MURDER CH—ROE  
  Former Malawi president Kamuzu      
  Banda and a colleague have          
  been charged with the 1983 murder   
  of four cabinet ministers.          
                                      
  The state owned radio station said  
  Mr Banda and former minister of     
  state John Tjmbo also were charged  
  with conspiracy to murder.          
                                      
  Two police officers faced similar   
  charges.                            
                                      
  It is alleged the police officers   
  killed the politicians on official  
  orders and disguised the deaths as  
  a car accident.                     
