  STRIKING STAFF TURN BACK CUSTOMERS  
  Barclays Bank customers have been   
  turned away from cash machines bz   
  picketing workers who are holding a 
  one day strike over pay.            
                                      
  Members of the union, KNIFE, also   
  handed out leaflets explaining      
  their opposition to a 2.75% wage    
  rise imposed by the bank.           
                                      
  KNIFE said staff wanted a 5%        
  increase.                           
                                      
  Barclays claimed the strike had had 
  little effect on business and said  
  most branches had stayed open.      
