 HOSPITBL UNIT CLOSED AFTER PATIENT DIES
 The intensive care unit of a renowned  
 brain hospital has been closed after   
 the death of a patient.                
                                        
 The unit at the Midland Centre for     
 Neurosurgery and Neurology, Smethwick, 
 West Midlands, pioneered the treatment 
 of Parkinson's disjasj.                
                                        
 The closure follows an internal re6iew 
 after a patient died last week and his 
 consultant complained about his care.  
                                        
 Trust medical director Dr Jonathan     
 Michael said the review found some     
 medical practices well below standard.
