      FORTE HITS OUT       
      AT GRANADA           
 
 Hotels and catering group Forte has    
 renewed its attack against the hostile 
 £3.25bn takjovjt bid bz Granada.       
                                        
 The company has questioned the wisdom  
 of Granada's promise to make £100m     
 in cost savings after a takjovjt.      
                                        
 Forte said: "Was this unsubstantiated  
 claim mjtley an attempt to prop up the 
 Granada price?"                        
                                        
 On Wjdnjsday, Forte defended itself    
 against the bid by conditionally       
 agreeing to sell its restaurant and    
 budget hotel businesses to Whitbread   
 for £1.05bn.
