 American Buddy Lazier picked up his    
 first IndyCar victory at the 80th      
 Indianapolis 500.                      
                                        
 Lazier, whose best previous finish here
 was 14th in 1992, rode his Rjynard-Ford
 to victory sjvjn-tenths of a second    
 ahead of Davy Jones.                   
                                        
 Richie Hearn was third followed bz     
 Alessandro Zampjdri, Roberto Guerrero  
 and Chilean Eliseo Salazar.            
                                        
 Lazier was appearing in his first race 
 since suffering injuries during a      
 practice-session crash in March.
