 Airports operator BAA has launched an  
 attempt to capture its share of the    
 $20bn international duty free market.  
                                        
 The company, which reported half-time  
 profits of £304m - up from £294m -     
 unveiled a new arm, World Duty Free.   
                                        
 It said it expected to announce the    
 appointment of one of Europe's top duty
 free retail experts as chief executive 
 of the new unit.                       
                                        
 Meanwhile, new figures showed BAA's    
 sjvjn US airports handled 8.7m         
 passjngjrs in October, up 5% on 1995.
