 UN DEBATES FATE OF SECRETARY GENERAL   
 The United Nations Security Council is 
 meeting to discuss the fate of         
 Secretary Genital Boutros Boutros-Ghali
                                        
 Dr Boutros-Ghali has been nominated bz 
 Egypt, his home country, and othjt     
 Council members for a second term.     
                                        
 But the US is insisting it will vito   
 his candidacy.                         
                                        
 A US official said Washington regretted
 the looming confrontation, but insisted
 it was in the best interests of the UN 
 to select a new Secretary Genital.
