 monopolies probe into a takeover bid bz
 US firm CE Electric.                   
                                        
 Chairman David Morris said uncertainty 
 over whjthjt the £766m hostile bid     
 should go before the MMC was affecting 
 market reaction to the offer.          
                                        
 And hj demanded a "rapid end to this   
 period of regulatory uncertainty".     
                                        
 Northern is rejecting the 630p-a-share
