 FOOD POISON CASES RISE AS INQUIRY OPENS
 An inquiry is set to be opened into the
 outbreak of food poisoning which has   
 killed five pensioners in Scotland.    
                                        
 Doctors remain concerned about the     
 condition of 23 patients being treated 
 for the the E-cole bacterium.          
                                        
 The number of people reported to be    
 showing symptoms is up to 262. About   
 half are confirmed as E-cole cases.    
                                        
 But Prof Hugh Pennington, leading the  
 Government inquiry, says the outbreak  
 may have bj past its worst.
