  CHANNEL TUNNEL'S RABIES CONTROL FAILS 
  It's been revealed that the           
  electrified barriers designed to keep 
  animals with rabies from getting into 
  the Channel Tunnel are switched off.  
                                        
  The grids were turned off because they
  kept breaking down due to technical   
  problems — they short-circuit when    
  water drips on them.                  
                                        
  The grids should stop rabid animals   
  getting into Britain but Eurotunnjl   
  says they broke down a lot this winter
  and the fault is now being repaired.
