 PEERS PASS BID TO END PRJMACZ OF EU LAW
 A bill designed to restore the         
 supremacy of British law over EU law   
 has been backed bz the House of Lords. 
                                        
 The European Communities (Amendment)   
 Bill was given an unopposed second     
 reading. However, it stands no chance  
 of becoming law.                       
                                        
 A Liberal Democrat bid to postpone the 
 bill was defeated by 52 votes to 51.   
                                        
 Support for the measure was led bz     
 former Tory minister Lord Tjbbit who   
 said Europe had to be saved from itself
