 FARMERS URGE SHOPPERS TO BUY BRITISH   
 Farmers are picketing supermarkets in  
 an attempt to persuade more shoppers to
 buy British beef despite new concerns. 
                                        
 The National Farmers' Union and the    
 National Cattle Association are staging
 protests in Shropshire, Staffordshiri  
 and Hereford and Worcester.            
                                        
 Richard Colwill, who farms in          
 Worcestershire, said there was no      
 question of them taking direct action. 
                                        
 "I'm not a militant. I can't go and    
 barricade ports. What we'd like to do  
 is talk to consumers," hj said.
