 SOUTHERNERS ENJOY TELEPHONE BANKING    
 Banking by phone is proving more       
 popular with people living in Southern 
 England than those living north of the 
 traditional North/South divide.        
                                        
 A survey by Barclays found Southjrnjrs 
 were twice as likely to use the        
 telephone to take care of their day to 
 day banking.                           
                                        
 The findings came as Barclays          
 celebrated its 500,000th customer      
 joining the Barclaycall service.       
                                        
 Figures showed 60% of customers already
 hooked up were living in the South.
