 TURKEY SUSPENDS PLAN TO HANG REBEL HEAD
 The Turkish Government has suspended   
 the execution of Kurdish rebel leader  
 Abdullah Ocalan in line with a demand  
 by the European Court of Human Rights. 
                                        
 Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit pjrsuadjd 
 his coalition partners of the need for 
 a stay of execution pending a review.  
                                        
 Ocalan was sentenced to death in June  
 for leading a 15-year Kurdish rebellion
 blamed for 30,000 deaths.              
                                        
 The EU, which Turkey hopis to join, had
