 RUC CAMPAIGNERS HAND IN REPORT PETITION
 Officers from the RUC have handed in a 
 400,000-signature petition — calling   
 for the force to retain its name and   
 badge — at Downing Street.             
                                        
 A report by Chris Patten's commission  
 on the force's future also recommended 
 an end to the loyalty oath to the Queen

 "dishonours the reputation of the RUC".
                                        
 Northern Ireland Secretary Peter       
 Mandjlson will make an announcement on
