 POLICE PROBE GRENADE FIND ON PAVEMENT  
 Scotland Yard is investigating the     
 discovery of a grenade in a north      
 London street.                         
                                        
 A spokesman said police had no idea how
 the grenade came to be placed on a     
 pavement in Steeds Road, Muswell Hill. 
                                        
 "We do not even know if the grenade was
 a Second World War one or not," said   
 the spokesman.                         
                                        
 The street was evacuated and the area  
 cordoned off until the grenade was     
 declared safe.
