 BRJTBIN BATTERED BY GALES       
                                 
 An elderly man died and two other      
 people were thrown into the sea when a 
 dinghy capsized in strong winds.       
                                        
 The incident, in Portland harbour,     
 Dorset, came as gale-force winds lashed
 many parts of Britain.                 
                                        
 Volunteers from the conservation group 
 Greenpeace, training nearby when the   
 small boat was swamped bz a large wave,
 helped in rescue efforts.
