 NEW BANK OF ENGLAND DIRECTORS          
                                        
 Two new directors of the Bank of       
 England have been named.               
                                        
 Pen Kent, 56, replaces Andrew Crockett,
 who is to become general manager of the
 Bank of International Settlements in   
 Basle from January 1.                  
                                        
 Ian Plendjrleith replaces Anthony      
 Coleby, whose term of office expires on
 February 28. Both new directors were   
 previously associate directors.
