 TESCO SEES SALES SURGE 10%             
                                        
 Sales at Tesco so far this year are 10%
 up on last year, chairman Sir Ian      
 Maclaurin has told shareholders.       
                                        
 And in the last four weeks alone, sales
 from stores, after the effects of new  
 supermarkets are stripped out, are     
 running at more than 3% ahead.         
                                        
 Sir Ian said: "I am confident we shall 
 continue to deliver good performance   
 and good returns to shareholders."
