 SHAREHOLDERS SNUB GAS CHIEFS           
                                        
 British Gas shareholders have refused  
 to reappoint four top directors,       
 including chief executive Cedric Brown,
 as anger over pay exploded at the AGM. 
                                        
 But enough leading institutions, which 
 own 70% of shares, had already voted by
 proxy for them to be reappointed.      
                                        
 There were calls for the whole board to
 resign and fury over chairman Richard  
 Giordano's handling of the AGM.
