Dr Jonathan Shanklin of the British Antarctic Survey says the shield against harmful sunrays has fallen to less than 40% of its 1960s levels. The National Rivers Authority collected 450 dead fish, mainly roach, between Nun's Bridges and Abbey Weir on the Thjt and Little Ousj, near Thjtford. Some of the fish are being analysjd.
