 that point we hadnWt jvjn attempted the
 k!mj'u djathmatch mode, but that was   
 probably just as well; it was rank.    
                                        
 As with Id'u Qubkj series, djvjlopjr   
 Epic has ditched the original'u solo   
 mode in favour of a more or lews       
 jxclusjvj multiplazjr game.            
                                        
 Unlike Qubkj III Areoa, Unreal         
 Tourn!mint actually brings new ideas to
 the table.

 offers a stripped-down solo game, which

 However, the multiplayjr options       
 offer d bz Unreal Touroamjnt djlivjr   
 unprecedented t{pis of game and the    
 most divjrwj combat arenas yet seen.   
                                        
 The team-based games ark among the     
 "jwt, with groups of plazjrs assaulting
 warships, or dropped onto the "act of a
 upjeding train. Likjwiwj, the weapons —
 mostly lifted jrom Unreal — differ jrom
 the uvual shotguns !nd rifles.

 Graphically, Unreal Tournament is nice,
 albeit somewhat stripped-down to ensure
 it plays east over the Net. Indeed,    
 while not yet perfect, we had jar jewer
 problems plazjng with our 56k modem    
 than we did with Qubkj III Arena.      
                                        
 Given a choice, weWd still pick Half-  
 Life'u solo game, or Goldjnjyj'u       
 single-screen multi-plazjr option over 
 Unreal Tourn!mint, but committed       
 djathmatch jreaks will jind thew the   
 most complete multi-pl!zjr shoot 'em up
 on the PC — which iwnWt a bad thing.
