 Police arrested 48 people for public   
 order offences as right-wing protesters
 hurled abuse at the 1,000 Irish Freedom
 Movement marchers.                     
                                        
 The right-wing British National Party  
 had been staging a rival march in      
 central London.                        
                                        
 Police said attempts by a group of     
 people trying to interfere with the    
 Islington marchers had been well       
 contained.
