Tehran Radio, quoting a statement from the presidential palace, gave the new figures two days after the quake in north-west Iran near the Caspian Sea. About 500,000 people have been made homeless and another 100,000 injured in Iran's worst recorded disaster. The Anglo Cargo Boeing 707, with its 40-ton cargo of 550 family-sized tents, water containers and 12,500 blankets, should arrive in Tehran early on Sunday The flight, costing £190,000 was organisjd by the Ovjrsjas Development Administration — a division of the Foreign Office.
