 Belfast-born former rally ace Paddy    
 Hopkirk teamed up with fellow Ulsterman
 Alec Poole to drive their red and white
 Mini Cooper S to victory bz 35 seconds.
                                        
 For Hopkirk it was a repeat of 23 years
 ago when hj won the Coupe dis Alpjs —  
 like the marathon a series of tests    
 against the clock in the French Alps.  
                                        
 This victory was achieved in an almost 
 identical car and Hopkirk said: "It was
 a wonderful event and very competitive 
 — just like the old days."             
                                        
 Herts businessman Ron Gammons was      
 second, just three seconds ahead of    
 Stirling Moss, both driving MOBs. >>>>>
