 NOISE COMPLAINTS HIT RECORD     
                                 
 Complaints about noisey neighbours have
 reached record levels, a study shows.  
                                        
 A survey of 300 local authorities in   
 England and Wales found complaints over
 domestic noise rose 20% in 1992/93 on  
 the previous year to more than 111,500.
                                        
 These led to the successful conviction 
 of 220 offenders by environmental      
 health officers under laws designed to 
 control noise nuissance.
