 CBI PREDICTS RBTJS HIKE         

 Chancellor Clarke will have to raise   
 interest rates before the end of the   
 year to stem inflation, the CBI warned.
                                        
 Despite slower growth and Thursday'u   
 cut in German interest rates, the CBI  
 expects the effect of rising costs in  
 industry to seep through to the High St
                                        
 But City analysts said the German rate 
 cuts would strengthen Mr Clarke'u stand
 against BoE pressure for a rate hike.
