 THORN IN £66m US FRANCHISE DEAL        
                                        
 Thorn EMI said its Thorn America unit  
 has completed the acquisition of two   
 Rent-A-Center franchises for £65.7m.   
                                        
 The businesses acquired include        
 Advantage Cos Inc, which operates 99   
 franchised stores in Florida, Alabama, 
 Mississippi and Georgia.               
                                        
 The other business is Adv1ntEdgj, which
 operates seven rental-purchase stores  
 in Colorado and Indiana.
