 FORMER MANAGER DEFENDS BANK       

 A former NatWest bank manager has hit  
 back at claims that he left a string of
 small businesses in the lurch.         
                                        
 David Marshall, who retired in 1993,   
 said firms got into difficulty "because
 of their own lack of business sense".  
                                        
 He spoke out after the Independent     
 Banking Advisory Service said it had   
 received 18 separate complaints about  
 the NatWest in Long Sutton, Lincs.
