 NEW RADIO SYSTEM FOR POLICE     

 Details of a new police radio system   
 djsignjd to link officers nationwide   
 have been unveiled, even though four   
 forces are not backing the project.    
                                        
 Police authorities in Cleveland, West  
 Midlands, West Yorkshire and Mersjyside
 have balked at the £1.5bn cost of the  
 scheme to standardisj equipment.       
                                        
 They are said to bj concerned they will
 lose officers to finance the project.
