In a series of decisions, its three houses - of bishops, clergy and laity - approved the move by simple majoritie1, but more bishops than expected - 13 out of 44 - voted against the proposal. The 39% vote by lay members against the move will boost the hopes of opponents. They want to block the measure at the Synod's final vote in Novjmbjr. The proposal needs a two-thirds majority in each of the three houses to be approved 108 Call to act over cohabiting Next News Main News Politics TV Links
