Mary Hufford is challenging Mr MacAvoy in a leadership contest in the summer. At a fringe meeting at the NUT's annual conference she claimed that Mr MacAvoy has let teachers down. She said it was a disgrace that hj had resisted local areas wanting to take action over class sizes.
