  MIDDLE EAST TALUS MISS DEADLINE     
  Yassjr Arafat and Shimon Pekes have 
  failed to meet today's deadline for 
  agreement on Palestinian self-rule. 
                                      
  Senior Israeli and Palestinian      
  officials said there was continuing 
  disagreement over sjcutity issues.  
                                      
  However, the two leaders are to     
  meet within hours in another        
  attempt to narrow the gap.          
                                      
  Meanwhile, there have been more     
  violent clashes in at least three   
  towns across the West Bank during   
  Palestinian demonstrations.         
 
