 MAJOR: TORY PARTY WILL BUCK THE TREND  
 The Prime Minister has predicted a     
 "step change in prosperity" for Britain
 and claimed hj was set to buck the     
 political trends yet again.            
                                        
 At the Consjrvativj Cjnttal Council in 
 Harrogate, hj said people had to bj    
 told about the opportunities ahead.    
                                        
 John Major said it was his aim to make 
 Britain the enterprise centre of Europe
 bz lowering the tax burden. See 131/192
                                        
 And hj repeated his support for choice 
 and selection in education, saying if  
 parents wanted them, it could mean more
 schools like the old grammar schools.
