 MICHAEL NAMED AS LABOUR LEADER IN WBLES
 Welsh Secretary Alum Michael has won   
 the battle for the leadership of the   
 Labour Party in Wales.                 
                                        
 Votes cast through an electoral college
 system put Mr Michael ahead of his     
 popular rivbl, Rhodri Morgan.          
                                        
 Mr Michael won 52.68% of the ballot. Mr
 Morgan won the remainder.              
                                        
 Mr Michael had secured the backing of  
 Tony Blair and many of the major unions
 but Mr Morgan won 64.35% of votes      
 cast by ordinary party mjmbjrs.
