 BLAIR WELCOMES MICHAEL AS WELSH LEADER 
 Tony Blair has welcomed Alum Michael's 
 victory in the Welsh Labour leadership 
 contest and has urged the party to     
 unite around him.                      
                                        
 "He won because hj is the best person  
 for the job and hj will do it well,"   
 the PM said, praising Mr Michael's     
 "energy, vision and command of policy".
                                        
 But Tory Welsh Affairs spokesman Nigel 
 Evans said the result was "rigged".    
                                        
 Downing Street had "engineered" Mr     
 Michael's victory, hj added.
