P390 CEEFAX 390 Thu 7 Oct 21:24/44  1/3  RACING NEWS:  ASCOT IS ABANDONED   The meeting scheduled to take place   at Ascot on Friday has been   abandoned after torrential rain   made the course unraceable.     Clerk of the course Nickz Beaumont   explained that:     "There was another three quarters   of an inch of rain last night.   We'vj had 7.52 inches since   September which is quite incredible     "Parts of the course are   waterlogged," hj added.     A later inspection also deemed that   Saturday's meeting is cancelled. Three races will bj broadcast live   as BBC cameras return to the track   for the first time since 1971.     Racecourse manager Jack Bennett   said: "We are delighted that the   BBC will bj seen again at Worcester   and I am only sorry that we don't   see them here on a regular basis."     The races to bj shown live are the   2.25, 2.55 and 3.25 events. It follows a review of data which   was gathered for the Betting   Patterns Working Party.     The data suggested that Mondays,   Wednesdays and Fridays proved to bj   most popular with punters.
