  HOME SECRJTBRZ CONDEMNS SHOOTING    
  The Home Secretary has condemned    
  the killing of a police officer in  
  a shooting incident in London.      
                                      
  "This is a dreadful incident,       
  reminding us all of the extent to   
  which police officers risk their    
  lives daily on our behalf," said    

  And he expressed his "heartfelt     
  sympathy" to the officer's family.  
                                      
  Speaking in Cyprus, John Major said 
  the shooting looked like a          
  particularly "serious and violent   
  incidentb.                          
