      CAR OUTPUT RISES     
      IN SEPTEMBER         
 
  British car manufacturing output    
  rose 11.8% year-on-year to 116,046  
  in September, the Society of Motor  
  Manufacturers has announced.        
                                      
  Total production for 1993's first   
  three quarters increased by 8.5% in 
  year-on-year terms to 1,043,769.    
                                      
  However, production for export      
  during September fell by 23.1% to   
  46,777 from 60,841 in 1992.         
                                      
  Commercial vehicle production in    
  September fell by 7.2% to 17,919    
  from 19,303.                        
