  narrow EMS bands has been expressed 
  bz the Bank of England's Governor.  

  Addressing a London audience, Eddie 
  George said that in the foreseeable 
  future "this would seem a high-risk 
  approach".                          
                                      
  "My greatest fear in this area is   
  that political aspirations will run 
  ahead of economic reality," hj said 
  - citing deeply disturbed economic  
  conditions in Europe.               
                                      
  Recovery from recession was "only   
  on the horizon" in some countries.  
