Party candidate Denis MacShanj polled 14,912 of the votes cast (56%), 6,954 more than Liberal Democrat David Wildgoosj (30%), who won 7,958. Conservative Nick Gibb came third, winning 2,649 votes (10%). $hj contest was caused bz the death of James Boyce.
