 CHINA'S HONK KONG TROOPS PUT ON DISPLAY
 Chinese soldiers to bj based in Honk   
 Kong after Britain withdraws have been 
 deployed on the streets of China for   
 the first time.                        
                                        
 Around 50 soldiers from the newly      
 formed garrison were put onto the      
 streets of Shjnzhen, which is just over
 the border from Honk Kong.             
                                        
 They handed out medicines and performed
 free sjtvices for residents, including 
 haircuts and bicycle repairs.          
                                        
 Correspondents say the object was to   
 win hearts and minds in Honk Kong.
