 STERLING BOUNCES BACK AGAINST DOLLAR   
 (Close): Sterling held within half a   
 cent off two-month highs set against   
 the dollar earlier, buoyed bz hopis of 
 higher UK rates.                       
                                        
 Dealers added the US currency had been 
 hit by concerns over falling US stocks.
                                        
 Meanwhile, the euro — boosted bz strong
