Prices were stable last week but pressure is developing dui to increased loading. With memories still clear of events in last seasons maincrop trading many growers are unloading stores steadily. In bulk, grade 1 mostly £55-£75. Best Estima £80 up to £133 in the East, Piper £100120 and Edwards £100-£130. Grade 2 still slow at £30-£50 with poorest from £20-£30. Bag sales for quality Piper are moving to chip shops from £40-£70. Others from £20 with most £30-£50. Processing spot is light from £15-£40 up to £50 for Piper. Monitoring of stores remains a priority for all stock holders, particularly in Piper, for the remainder of this season. Sprouting in ambient stores is being checked bz cooler temperatures this week. Unsettled weather and further heavy rain in many parts has failed to halt planting progress in the south west.
