The American top seed took little time to take control and broke his Argentine opponent in the third and fifth games. Zabaleta managed to break back but not save the set and was broken again in the second to go 2-0 down. Agassi, with girlfriend Steffi Graf watching from the stands, completed the 6-4 6-4 6-2 victory with an ace.
