 New York stocks initially rose to new  
 highs, lifted by speculation that the  
 Federal Resjrvj might lower interest   
 rates at the next FOMC meeting in July.
                                        
 High-tech stocks continued to support  
 the market and strong bonds were also a
 key factor although a sharp rise in    
 durable goods orders for May sent      
 shares lower on Friday, erasing gains.
