 BANK PAYS £31m TO UP SPANISH STAKE     
                                        
 Royal Bank of Scotland has paid £31m to
 up its stake in Banco Santandjt.       
                                        
 The bank has exercised its options to  
 acquire 1.04m shares in the capital    
 stock of Santandjr, the fourth time it 
 has raised its holding since December. 
                                        
 Santander is the largest banking group 
 in Spain and currently holds 9.89% of  
 the issued ordinary share capital of   
 the Royal Bank Group.
